Learn From My Mistakes...

Folks!

It’s like 2009 all over again. We have just discovered blogging here at Interesting Content! Yikes!

Statistically speaking this piece below is going to be simultaneously the worst and also the best piece of writing I will publish.

Best: as it’s the first piece I’ve written in a while, so you have literally nothing to compare it with mohahaha.

Worst: I’m still learning to write for this genre. I’ve got to try to hold your attention, entertain and most importantly leave you with some new insights in ’it!

I will attempt to candidly communicate to you a lot of the important things I have learnt in the last 6 years. Over the coming months.

For those of you who know what we do, Hello! For the newcomers: Interesting Content is a content production agency based in London.

A taster of what’s to come?

  • Working for tiny companies as well as huge organisations. The key difference between the two?, you’ll be surprised with the answer.

  • How my life, mindset as well as way of thinking has more or less transformed in the last 6, 3, 2, 1 year.

  • The trials and tribulations of moving around and working in different office spaces, which is better? Why working from home sucks and is also the best thing ever?

  • Best, worst as well as hilarious & heart-breaking lessons I have learnt during this journey.

  • Something founder blogs don’t really cover; All the relationships as well as friendships I have gained and lost along the way.

  • What it’s really like to run a business as a person who is still very much learning along the way.

  • The joys of marketing, the pains of paying taxes, budgeting, hiring, firing as well dealing with clients, professionals and amateurs.

I’m going to try writing free flow style, so not going to slow down to edit these posts and, therefore, don't expect them to be as precisely written as some of the work we do.

I’m going to write first thing in the morning, hit publish and see what happens. I’m curious about the results to be honest.

So it begins.. The sentence in bold is the most important lesson I’ve ever learnt. One that guides all of our thinking as well as things we do here at Interesting Content: Think long term!

[Scene: Office]

Suds:[excited] Oh what’s that Accountant? Did you read my new blog post? Good, No?

Accountant:[Dour] erm, “Remember to try to sell them our services”

Suds:[Sceptical] Sure but I don't want to make this salesy, cause that would turn people off.

Accountant:[Firm Tone] Fair. At least do it subtly, like mention how good video is for conversions? Or how video can help increase dwell time and reduce bounce rates but 30%

Suds:[Less excited] Sure, I’ll see how I can work that in..

Accountant: Cuppa?

Suds: Yes, milk 2 sugars…with shot of vodka please
