Cost Vs Value
I was speaking to my colleague about this. We actually got into a heated debate over google hangouts..
If you were to look at things around you.. you would be able to pretty much and conclusively value the actual costs of things around.
The jumper I'm wearing, the cost of the cotton, the time the machinery took to weave it all together, the garment workers who put it all together packed and shipped it to the store, the truck which delivered it to the Uniqlo.
The store workers who folded and put the garment on the rack. The shop rent, the VAT, the designer who designed the garment. The advertising the electricity, heating, water, climate control bill. What I'm saying is each and everything I've just mentioned has an actual cost attached to it.
HOWEVER does Uniqlo charge me for the exact cost it costs them to make this garment or do they charge me for the value the jumper provides me?
I feel warm, comfortable and stylish and trendy when wearing this jumper. I want my friends to think I care about my appearance and people to believe that I value quality over fancy designer labels. There are a million reasons why I do the the things I do.
When you're running a business you have to decide weather you charge your customer the actual cost of your goods or services or charge for the value you provide. That my friends is something we have been agonising over here at Interesting content. Answers on a postcard please!
